Under Jackson’s tutelage, D.B.L. continued to craft his songwriting and musical production skills. According to Jackie Jackson; “D.B.L. incredibly possesses the same precision, execution and command-of-the-stage that have been the signature of the Jackson 5! He is not only an impressive artist, whom I envision achieving the fame and popularity parallel to other mainstream male Pop acts such as Justin Timberlake, Akon, and Usher, to name a few. Donny B. Lord says that while he values his past experience, he is creating a new path now. The journey from Jackson protege to his debut single Party On The Moon begins on the business social networking site Linked In, where he met his manager David Peterson.

Initially, Peterson felt living in the shadow of arguably one of the most notorious families in music was a burden too hard for D.B.L. to bear.

“He hit me up and I was, like, wait, you’re a protege of the Jackson family? Why are you reaching out to me?” says Peterson, a young aspiring music industry executive and entrepreneur.

“But, what inspired me was [Donny's] ability to write, produce, sing and perform. He has the total package — a quadruple threat!”

Peterson encouraged D.B.L. to create a sound and style that would separate him from the Jacksons while tapping into his vast reservoir of knowledge and experience.

“We wanted to go with something that would encompass his past, while carving out a future,” says Peterson.

With Peterson’s business savvy tenacity and passion, and D.B.L.’s talent and direction, the duo went to work to create a project that would accentuate D.B.L.’s abilities as a songwriter, producer, singer and performer, while creating a niche.

“I was sitting in my room, listening to these thirty second samples David sent and I heard this one track. I knew immediately what to do. The hook came to me instantly “Party On The Moon’. I spent the next couple of months locked in my room perfecting it,” says Lord

“Donny recorded the entire track in his bedroom on ProTools and sang all the vocal parts before bringing it to Skip [Saylor],” says Peterson.

Legendary mixer Skip Saylor (Eminem, Britney Spears, Stevie Wonder) and assistant engineer Ian Blanch were immediately impressed with the the quality of Lord’s home-grown production.

“The [song] was hot! It was a pleasure to mix Party On The Moon and D.B.L. is an amazing talent to work with. He wrote and produced it at home. All the vocals were right where they needed to be. It was very well produced,” says Blanch.

“D.B.L. is a very talented writer/performer who undoubtedly will be on the radar of the major labels in the very near future. A true talent,” adds Saylor.

D.B.L.’s production got the ear of one of the industry’s musical elite, legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman, who says “[Party On The Moon] is very well put together. It’s got plenty of ear candy — all the elements that can compete in today’s very competitive music market. Donny B. Lord is blazing a trail here.”

Donny B. Lord’s “Party On The Moon” is currently being released to commercial mainstream radio and is available for Mainstream Terrestrial Radio and Satellite Radio through Howard Rosen Promotion.

“We’re gonna get to the moon with this song,” declares radio promoter Howie Rosen who is credited with breaking acts such as Donna Summer, KISS, The Village People and Parliament.

While the moon remains the ultimate destination for Donny B. Lord, still here on Earth D.B.L. just finished shooting his debut music video for the single with music video director Yolande Geralds, the former Vice President of Video Production at Atlantic Records, who has also directed music videos for recording artists Trey Songz, .Plies, Omarion, Teairra Mari, Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, etc. Donny’s music video features Tiffany Belle whom was recently featured in Lil Wayne’s 6 Foot 7 Foot Music Video, Akon’s Models Raquel Lee and Pretty Rikki, along with Star Brown.

“It’s so out the box, we will work it out” jokes Peterson, quoting lyrics from D.B.L.’s Party On The Moon.

“That is exactly what makes Donny B. Lord the next biggest thing. He’s outside the box, different. Yet, he has the talent, the experience, and the personality to be a superstar. Not to mention, he’s one of the nicest guys I know. His second career could be in standup comedy,” jokes Peterson.

Peterson is also confident that D.B.L. will have no problems dealing with fame.

“He comes from a good family. I’ve met his parents. They are intelligent, successful and level headed people. D.B.L. is not going to act up. He’s also got a college degree. He graduated from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University Of Southern California with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations.”

Both D.B.L. and Peterson are confident that Party On The Moon will be D.B.L.’s big break.

“We’ve worked hard for this and I think our hard work is finally paying off.”
